Kelly Mack Talks about Employment, Disability, and RA

Kelly Mack, a long-time contributor here at RheumatoidArthritis.net, was recently published in the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM)! In her piece, Kelly shares her experience of being in the workforce as a person living with a disability due to rheumatoid arthritis. Kelly discusses advancing in her career and also tackles the challenges that stem from common misconceptions about people living with disabilities and their ability to contribute to the workforce.

    Wonderful article. I admire Kelly’s tenacity and forthrightness. She calls it as she sees it but always with style and grace. I especially like the way she views the use of a wheelchair as, “…a tool for independence, not the anchor of limitation….” That statement alone tells us who Kelly is. A fighter, resilient, someone who doesn’t see herself as unable. She is a role model for all of us and I salute her.
