Are you happy with your treatment plan or still searching for the right one?

Are other RA people happy with their medication cocktail, still searching or rely on pain meds?

I have been in treatment for RA for 6 years. I continue to work with my rheumatologist and have tried all biologics available. I haven't had any positive results and right now I am infused with Rituxin for 2 months and patiently waiting for things to slowwww down. However I've had to add prednisone to my daily dose, I have new bumps on my wrist and I don't feel better. My goal has been to catch the RA early to prevent joint damage but I have been unsuccessful.

  1. I have had RA for over 30 years now, and I never found a drug or drug combination that worked for me, unfortunately. I see a pain specialist that has changed my life, though, He worked for two year to find a cocktail that let me have quality of life but also didn’t knock me out every time. I would think about maybe seeing one if you are inclined. Keep on keepin’ on, DPM

    1. Hello Jules:

I've had severe RA for 35 years. I did well with the older drugs, from 6 months remission to 5 years. Back on one again. I tried the biologics but none worked for me. I've read about so many others having the same negative response.

I was feeling okay for about 1 1/2 years but I'm starting to hurt more again. Not sure if it's the cold weather or the cocktail is wearing down. Oh well, that's RA. I hope that you do well soon.

      1. Thank you for your insight. I just met with a new RA doc and I will see what he offers as treatment.

        1. Hi Dan thanks for the response. I have gone to a pain management dr and was so upset. He did not give me a choice he just put me on methadone and he gave me some nasty injections in my neck. The drug didn't work and it made me tired and sick. When I called his office the nurse told me I shouldn't ask for any specific drug since he would think that was my reason for seeing him. I never returned or took methadone ag. I also have gone to a medical marijuana dr.and have my card, however all appointments or purchase of the medical stuff is not covered and very expensive. Believe me I try everything since my life and health is important to me. I'm not ready to give up Dispite the long periods in the past were my pain was over top. I took a bottle of Aleve once a week and my CRP's were 157. I'm better but my RA isn't under control. Thanks again. Jules
