Does anyone else deal with skin rash?

Hi everyone! For about a year I have experienced recurring itchy hive like rashes on my arms, hips, back, and thighs. It usually starts out in one spot and slowly then very quickly spreads causing a pink hive like looking rash that can be rather itchy. It last a month or so then clears up on its own only to come back a few months later. I finally broke down and saw the dermatologist because I was worried it could be a side effect of my RA. He did several biopsies but said the results were inconclusive so he couldn’t make an official diagnoses which was more then frustrating. I have been using a prescription strength ointment he prescribed and it does not seem to be doing much. Does anyone have any idea what this might be or what I can do to help. Any help would be greatly appreciated because this is no fun. The following link is to a dropbox album with pictures of the rash https://www.dropbox.com/sh/rdmwambfijfxwa8/AACrP6bkaje2WukkYC9NrrP2a?dl=0

  1. @ewoklvr7 First, let me say, fellow ewok lover here! (Assuing I got the meaning of your screen name right! Star Wars 4eva) RA and rashes always went hand in hand for me, and my doctor told me that it’s not uncommon, and there is even a type of arthritis called psoriatic arthritis that causes psoriasis. Or the psoriasis causes the arthritis. Who knows, it’s one of those chicken/egg/arthritis scenarios. I think it’s probably best for you to talk to your physician, see what he or she says. Either way, we’ll be here for you! Keep on keepin’ on, DPM

    1. Hi ewoklvr7. Sorry you are having these rash issues. You mentioned the dermatologist. Have you had a chance to discuss this with your rheumatologist? I ask because there can be numerous potential causes of rashes; such as medications, allergies, etc... Finding answers, unfortunately, can be very difficult. Hoping you find some answers. Best, Richard (RheumatoidArthritis.net Team)

      1. Hi ewoklvr7, are you on Arava? I had a hive rash come up I believe from Arava (Leflunomide).
My Rheumatologist started my on Arava (brand name) after I had a serious reaction to Methotrexate once per week injection. After 6 months my body was covered in a burning itchy rash which I realized after I had earlier signs of reaction but didn't pick up on it then. Jyst wondering what neds you are on for RA/RD.

        1. I found these reoccurring F .I.rashes just that!king irritating sore and occasionally needing penicillin to clear it up.
Oat bath. Or oat compress helps me with itchiness.. however after 23 years of RA Fibro &Cch ..I've exhausted all my home trials of how to stop these rashes being soo untimely annoying ! Do try the oat compression.. if really does help 😀
