27, Pregnant, and Diagnosed with RA

I was diagnosed with RA at the age of 27. I then found out I was pregnant two weeks later. My RA got WORSE with the pregnancy instead of going into remission like they thought it would. Because when I was going through this time in my life (my son is now 1) I couldn’t find anyone with a similar story, I decided to created a blog about what I have went through, am going through now, and everything in between. Personally, when I found out, I thought my life was over (yes dramatic I know). My blog is here and I’d love it if you’d stop by my blog.

    Hi Shelly~

Thanks so much for taking the time to share your story! I was diagnosed at 25 and have since had two little boys. I got some remission during my first pregnancy but flared badly during my second – so I understand what you are going through! I agree that there are not enough resources out there for supporting moms (and moms-to-be!) with chronic illness. I am always doing what I can to try to fill this gap – and I commend you for doing the same! I share a lot of stories about pregnancy and motherhood on this site, so please check it out if you are interested! http://rheumatoidarthritis.net/author/mariah

Best of luck to you and your family – and please remember that we are here to support you!
