Coping with a Flare

Woke up this morning and a flare hit me like a brick. I tried to go to work today but couldn't even manage to dress myself. Life is getting harder everyday. I've laid on the couch today crying from the pain in my feet, hands and knees. I wish that everyone could understand the pain that I go thru everyday. My husband gets mad when I tell him that I'd rather break my hands with a hammer than have them hurt like this. Needing some support...

  1. Candy, so sorry you're having such issues. It's hard for others to understand what we're experiencing. It took me a long time to get out of bed this morning and still having a hard go if it. You should know that there are many of us here who understand and there's also our Facebook page you should check out.

You might contact your doctor to let them know how bad you're feeling and see if there is anything that can be done to help. Take care, Andrew

    1. I called the doctor on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday with no response. The only option i have right now are my pain meds (only spouse to take 3 a day but it's been more like 6 since I'm only napping an hour a night. I was even today at work today that I am no longer dependable and it seems my flares are conveniently scheduled. I don't pencil these in on a calendar, if I had it my way, I'd never have them. I just wish people understood, it would make my life easier. My husband is wonderful and supportive with this. He doesn't understand my disease, but he understands me. He washed my hair for me, helps me dress in the morning and best of all holds me when I need to do nothing but cry. I don't think I could ask for better.

      1. Candy, you're fortunate to have such a supportive husband. But unfortunate that your doctor did not return your call. I've found that my docs (their assistants) will return calls within 24 hours. You might think about switching rheumatologists if you don't think they're supportive and helpful.

        1. I've actually already have a new one lined up. My 1st appointment with him is on the 5th.Today is day 5 that I can barely move
