Hi, New to the forum

Hi,everyone, diagnosed with RA 3 years, ago.I am on Plaquenil.I was given Steroids,Prednisone, but these wrecked me,weaned myself off them and feel much better, though they have, me osteoporosis! Now using curcumin, vitamin D3 .and Msm,along with fish oil and collagen,so far so good. However I also have extensive osteoarthritis, and it's difficult to know which is causing the pain etc.Rheumatologist trying to push biologics etc but I have refused up to now because of the lethal side effects.I would love to hear from anyone in my position.I am gluten and dairy free except for goat's milk kefir. So pleased to have found the forum, theiRS road is a lonely one, most people haven't a clue!

  1. Hi Hilary. Welcome to the community, but sorry to hear you are struggling. The decision on what treatment to pursue is truly a personal one. Biologics absolutely do have potential side-effects. Also, many do use them successfully. In this article one of our contributors writes about what he calls the risk to risk ratio in determining whether or not to pursue a treatment: https://rheumatoidarthritis.net/living/the-risk-to-risk-ratio/. In this article another contributor writes about her positive experience with biologics: https://rheumatoidarthritis.net/living/thank-you-biologics/.

Hopefully, some other community members will chime in with their experiences. Please let us know what you decide and how you are doing. Know you are always welcome here for information and support. Best, Richard (RheumatoidArthritis.net Team)
