I hate RA

I am so tired of this horrible disease. Every time I'm feeling better and think I can handle it, BAM! More PAIN! So frustrating! Still learning and trying to figure out RA. I guess I'm experiencing a flare. Already taking methotrexate and Enbrel. Now considering a prednisone pack. (I think that's what my rheumatologist called it) UGH!
Recently started on lexapro, too. Lexapro was a tough decision, but has improved my emotional well being.
Yeah, I hate RA.

  1. Hi Cheryl ~

I'm so sorry to hear that you are struggling right now. One of the more frustrating aspects of life with RA is the seemingly endless ups and downs! I personally have a love-hate relationship with prednisone - I don't like staying on it long term but sometimes a short course of prednisone can REALLY help the way you feel. So hopefully it helps you too! In the meantime remember that we understand what you are going through and we are here to support you! Hang in there!!

    1. Thanks Mariah. It helps to be able to shout out here. Sometimes I need to just tell someone that understands. The unpredictability is so frustrating! The methotrexate and Enbrel have finally minimized the daily, constant pain to a manageable level. So this flare kind of threw me for a loop.

      1. Hi Cheryl ~

I know just what you mean - and that's part of the reason that this site is here! We are always willing to be an ear to listen (or a shoulder to cry on!) when things are rough. I truly hope that your current flare relaxes and you feel better soon! In the meantime hang in there! I have been in your shoes many times!

        1. Cheryl, the prednisone pack can help knock down symptoms for a season. Have you taken it before? Unfortunately, RA and other autoimmune diseases can also impact our emotional well being (see https://rheumatoidarthritis.net/living/just-head-impact-ra-mental-functioning/). I hope Lexapro works for you. It can take 4-6 weeks for hang in there.
