Treatment

Information

  • By Dolly

I was diagnosed with RA about five years+ at that time it was mainly left wrist and the fatigue and they found I had NAFL which they said there was no medication! Since then it affects both wrists badly and I am in a lot of pain. They seem very reluctant to give me anything, including information. What do I do/ask? Can anyone help?

Hi Dolly, thank you for reaching out! I’m sorry to hear that you are in a lot of pain. You are not alone here. I’d encourage you to speak with your doctor and Rheumatologist about what treatment options ARE available to you. If they are not giving you the information you deserve then it may be time to seek a second opinion. It is true that several of the more common RA treatments are not advised for those with Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease. There are some medications that can be used with caution or you can ask about Natural or Alternative therapies that may be appropriate. In addition to speaking with your doctor, this article gives some ideas from our community for pain management that may be helpful to you: https://rheumatoidarthritis.net/living/community-ideas-managing-pain/. Personally, I have a google alert set up for “rheumatoid arthritis” as well – so I get an email in my inbox with news stories containing the phrase too!
