Tendons and RA

Within the last 6 months I have had problems with several tendons. The first time I was just shutting my car door and apparently the tendon separated from the muscle in my wrist. A few months later a tore a tendon in my arm and a couple of months after that I tore a tendon in my leg. I saw a sports medicine specialist who said he believed that it was from my RA progressing and the rheumatologist agreed. I had never heard that could be from RA. Has anyone heard or experienced something similar?

  1. Hi Bernie215, Thanks for reaching out. Sorry to hear about your tendon pain. Yes, RA has been linked to tendon pain and rupture. Tendons may become affected by inflammation of the joint. I hope others in our community chime in with their personal experiences to share with you. In addition to speaking with your doctor, this article may be helpful to you: https://rheumatoidarthritis.net/symptoms/hand-pain-swelling-and-inflammation/. Wishing you some relief soon. 1. Thank you, I appreciate the article!

      1. I ruptured my Achilles’ tendon and recently learned it may be due to my RA.
