Pain in lower right quadrant of back

I have been having mobility issues due to severe pain in lower right portion of back. I went to chiro and had 2 adjustments and that was the wrong decision as I had an inflammatory reaction and had to go back on prednisone. I had my last adjustment on thursday and I am still having pain in that portion of my back. Is this RA or something else?

  1. Hi . We are not medical experts, so we can't really tell you whether your pain is caused by RA. Have you talked to your rheumatologist? It's possible the adjustment stirred things up instead of making them better. Have you ever had x-rays or an MRI of your lower back to get a good picture of what's happening there? If not, you might want to get a full work-up and diagnosis before going back to a chiropractor. I hope the pain resolves soon and that you get some relief. Best wishes. - Lori (Team Member)

    1. Hi . On top of the excellent information from , I want to share with you this article from our contributor Andrew on RA and spinal pain: https://rheumatoidarthritis.net/living/oh-my-aching-back-ra-can-impact-your-spine. Later in the article he mentions the sacroiliac joint in the lower back. This article discusses this joint and RA further: https://www.healthcentral.com/article/4-littleknown-joints-affected-by-rheumatoid-arthritis. Of course, as Lori mentioned, only a doctor can provide the proper diagnostics and there are numerous other potential causes for your symptoms, just thought these might inform your discussion with the doctor. Hoping you can get some relief soon. Best, Richard (RheumatoidArthritis.net Team)
