This Surprised Me

I was working with a young woman who was very worldly. We were chatting one day and I mentioned that my eyebrows had been thinning a lot. She told me to go see a rheumatologist.

Is it RA?

I said what? She said it could be a sign of autoimmune disease. I didn't act on her advice.

A couple of years later I was in a car accident, injured my finger and the MRI results had the doctors refer me to a rheumatologist.

I later realized that my fatigue/soreness wasn't from being out of shape and getting old (which is what I thought), but rather I have seronegative rheumatoid arthritis (and osteo).

Moral of the story? Thinning eyebrows can be a sign of R.A.
