My first diagnosis came from blood & urine testing, and a consistently positive ANA. Since then, it is rare for the tests to show as positive, except for the ANA. My health profile lists Rheumatoid & Sjogren's. So, what is going on with the tests?

Getting an accurate diagnosis isn't always an easy task. Sometimes blood and urine tests can miss other markers that show that RA does indeed exist. While you wait for others in the community to share their experience, I think you might find this information from our website helpful in explaining what you may be experiencing. You can access the article here- https://rheumatoidarthritis.net/living/seronegative-ra-blood-tests-dont-tell-entire-story. I hope you get some answers soon!

Thank you! At 70 years old, & 20 years of meds & troublesome doctors, I am ready to just use my primary care!

Hi . As the excellent information from notes, up to a third of cases are seronegative. My wife, Kelly Mack (a contributor here), was diagnosed at age two, almost 45 years ago and also happens to be seronegative. Your frustration is certainly understandable. Are you on a treatment that helps at all with your symptoms? Please know that people her understand and feel free, if you like, to keep us posted on how you are doing. Best, Richard (RheumatoidArthritis.net Team)
