Has anyone tried CBD/THC for inflammation?

  1. , well, I tried to reply earlier, but technology gremlins appeared to have eaten my post!

So, I know that some of our community members use CBD/THC to help with pain management, but I am not aware of any that specifically use it to help with inflammation. Here is one piece I thought you might find helpful -- https://rheumatoidarthritis.net/living/green-good-im-medical-marijuana-patient. And here is another piece -- https://rheumatoidarthritis.net/living/medical-cannabis-symptom-relief. Again, these pieces are more about pain management, but I also found this interesting piece on CreakyJoints -- https://creakyjoints.org/alternative-medicine/how-to-take-cbd-for-arthritis/.

I do hope community members using CBD/THC chime in here, as I would be interested to see how others are using the treatment and how it's working for them.

    Thanks for asking this question!

    1. I take Leflunomide and mixing CBD with it is not good. I am interested in knowing if anyone takes CBD along with their medication. I am tempted to rotate the two but I'm scared to do so. Any guidance or suggestions would be appreciated.

      1. Hi there, that's great you're open to trying more alternative methods to find what works for you. One quick note is I would make sure you coordinate with your doctor first to make sure combining CBD and your medication is right based on your personal medical history. I know you're waiting to see if others have tried the same method. Even if they have and it has been successful, that might only work just for them based on their body and medical history, so definitely check in with your doctor too! - Reggie, RheumatoidArthritis.net team member

      2. I agree. I'm afraid to bring it up with my rheumatologist. I've read numerous testimonials where some folks consult their doctors with positive feedback and others consult them only to be dismissed. There is an interesting video on YouTube

The interesting section for us with RA starts at minute 28:00.
The whole seminar is very interesting for anyone who suffers a medical condition of any kind.
        Thank you for your input.

    2. Hi . I can't personally speak on CBD, but I did find this article on CBD and inflammation: https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/cbd-for-inflammation#summary. It notes that there really hasn't been much research on the anti-inflammatory impact in humans, but some research has found such an effect in animals. I saw that you then mentioned to being concerned about drug interactions. Again, I can't speak specifically to RA drugs, but I did find this article from Harvard Health on CBD and drug interactions: https://www.health.harvard.edu/blog/cbd-and-other-medications-proceed-with-caution-2021011121743. The primary takeaway seems to be make sure to check with your doctor or pharmacist. As Erin said, hopefully others will chime in with their direct experiences.
