Covid and RA

I've recently had a bad case of Covid where I tested positive for 26 days!.
Since having Covid I've been having the worst RA flare since being diagnosed in 2009.
My Rheumy nurse said it's because Covid kicked my immune system into action, but obviously my immune system fights against me not with me.
I'd like to know if anyone else, that has had Covid, has had this happen to them?

  1. That sounds terrible! I’m so sorry you got so sick and followed that up with a flare. Doesn’t seem fair, does it? I had Covid July 2023. I was fully immunized, had received preventative Evusheld and was treated with Monoclonal Antibodies once I tested positive. Luckily, my case was mild. (I believe they no longer give Evusheld as a preventative as it isn’t effective with the current strains

    1. My post got cut off… Once I was positive I got Monoclonal antibodies.
I did get very sick with Non-Covid bronchitis 3 times last year that did flare my RA more than Covid did. I went off of my DMARD with the Covid and Non-Covid infections, but because I was sicker, I was off them longer with the Non-Covid.
I Hope you kick this flare to the curb soon! And have lots of protective Covid antibodies now! Jo, moderator

  2. That's a long bout of COVID, . Unfortunately, we have several members here and in our PsA community who experienced flares after COVID. Some were short-lived. Others lasted for months. I hope yours resolves soon and you get some relief. Gentle hugs. - Lori (Team Member)
