Mobility issues

I have had ra for over 50 years. At my age, I am rapidly losing mobility. It has become painful to walk, stand etc. I am 72, but have always been very active through exercise. I hand weight issues or diabetes or heart conditions. I am currently on a plethora of meds including ritual.
I have tried using a cane or walker but don’t find either helpful.

I am considering asking my dr for some pt.

Any ideas?

  1. I meant to say I have no weight issues, diabetes or heart conditions.

    1. Hello, my name is Jacob Pratt and I am not a doctor but I am currently am majoring in mechanical engineering at the University of Tennessee. I am going to be designing a door handle for people with rheumatoid arthritis that makes it easier to open doors and I need some people to help me understand how to solve this problem. If you could please reach out to me it would be greatly appreciated!

      Thank you for your time
      Jacob

      1. Jacob..I have few hand issues but at times trying to turn a door handle hurts. It can be difficult to do the amount of twisting required to rotate. I am referring to a knob.it can also be difficult to push a regular handle down to open it.

With advanced ra, muscle strength also disappears.

        Hope this helps.

      2. Thank you for the reply! I will try to keep in touch for some possible solutions as I design and prototype the door handle.

        Thank you, Jacob.
