Osteoporosis Diagnosis

Hello
I'm a general Internist who is working with a mobile medicine company seeing patients at Assisted Living and Memory Care Units and such. My question is regarding Peripheral DXA machines since most of the patients have difficulty with Transport and such.
Would it be worthwhile to purchase a Peripheral DXA machine and base recommendations on the information we obtain from that? Any guidelines on using/interpreting Peripheral DXA? Any information would be very much appreciated.
Thank you in advance!

  1. Hi . It is great to see your interest in maximizing care for those with limitations on access to health facilities and testing. I need to note that we are not medical professionals and cannot provide medical advice over the internet. That said, osteoporosis is certainly a concern for those with RA and access to proper care is a concern for the communities you mentioned (those in assisted living and in memory care units). You may want to reach out to organizations dealing specifically with these communities, such as the American Geriatrics Society (https://www.americangeriatrics.org/) or the International Osteoporosis Foundation (https://www.osteoporosis.foundation/). I can't personally speak on these organizations, but hope organizations along these lines can assist in your goals for improving care for these communities. 1. Hi Mary, thank you for taking the time to write in. As Richard stated, we are not able to give medical advice here on our forums. However, please do reach out to those organizations which help people directly with those concerns you listed. Good luck on your endeavors! -Effie, team member
