Hi LillianKar! I am sorry you are dealing with dental issues. I can say that dental health concerns, be it jaw related or tooth/gum related, is a pretty common issue within our community. There IS a link between RA and periodontal disease, which you can read about here -- https://rheumatoidarthritis.net/living/oral-hygiene-protect-yourself-against-periodontal-disease/. It sounds like you are doing all of the right things to maintain your tooth health at this point. If you haven't already, you may ask your dentist for some suggestions on how to handle this issue. He/she may have some recommendations for products or cleaning practices that may help. Also, in the article I linked to, the author does share some tooth/gum care tips that you may find helpful. Please know you are not alone in this! While it's a pain to deal with, I hope it offers you some measure of comfort to know you are not the only one facing this particular health issue. Thanks for reaching out! And good luck staying out of the dentist's chair for awhile! Best, Erin, RheumatoidArthritis.net Team Member.
