Does anyone have periodontal disease?

I'm tired of visiting my dentist! To be honest I don't have any teeth free of fillings or aponeurosis. The frequency of these happening is traumatic, every three months! I know the connection between periodontal disease and RA but do you also have a similar experience? Running to dentists every now and then? I also want to point out that I'm a freak with dental hygiene, I use everything around to clean and protect my teeth. And still. My doctor tells me there's not an immediate connection with RA.

  1. Hi LillianKar! I am sorry you are dealing with dental issues. I can say that dental health concerns, be it jaw related or tooth/gum related, is a pretty common issue within our community. There IS a link between RA and periodontal disease, which you can read about here -- It sounds like you are doing all of the right things to maintain your tooth health at this point. If you haven't already, you may ask your dentist for some suggestions on how to handle this issue. He/she may have some recommendations for products or cleaning practices that may help. Also, in the article I linked to, the author does share some tooth/gum care tips that you may find helpful. Please know you are not alone in this! While it's a pain to deal with, I hope it offers you some measure of comfort to know you are not the only one facing this particular health issue. Thanks for reaching out! And good luck staying out of the dentist's chair for awhile! Best, Erin, Team Member.

    1. Thank you Erin for the support and the info shared!

  2. Hi LillianKar. On top of the excellent information from Erin, thought you might be interested in this article from our editorial team from earlier this year on the connection between RA and gum disease: Hope this information is helpful and know that you are always welcome here for information and support. Best, Richard ( Team)
