RA and having children

I am 39 year old male and RA patient since I was 6 years old.
The main reason I am writing is regarding the wish of my wife and me to have children.
I am a fully functional patient and my main concern is the potential impact of medicine I am taking on fertility/fetus. Does anybody here have any experience as male patients who have RA and want to have children?
Currently my therapy consists of Ebetraxate (7.5mg/week subcutaneous), OLUMIANT baricitinib (4mg/day) + Folic acid and vitamin D3.
My main concern is if I have to pause some medicine I am currently taking for my RA to get worse. Or what are some other options for me?

  1. Hi thanks for reaching out and asking about this. I'm not a male patient, but I'm near your age and have always asked my rheumatologist what I can take. Of course it's different for men, but it may not hurt to also ask your wife's gyno and other doctors too. I have connected with one male who has had three kids while living with RA. He's had it for a long time though way before biologics were available I think. He created a foundation, you may want to check it out and connect with him. Here's the link: https://psnevergiveup.org

    1. Thank you Effie! I will make contact with them.
