RA and Prostate Cancer

New research has found that genetically predicted rheumatoid arthritis is causally associated with prostate cancer (see: https://www.healthday.com/healthpro-news/hcp-rheumatology/rheumatoid-arthritis-causally-linked-to-prostate-cancer).

Men with RA, does your doctor regularly screen for prostate cancer and will you proactively tell them about the potential link?

  1. Well, not my RA doctor. But as you know, men of a certain age are supposed to have annual exams, and just like clockwork, I go each February for that one special exam, which includes blood work and a forceful digit. When you are 68, it comes with the territory.
