Hello, , I am sorry to hear about your recent RA diagnosis and I want to welcome you to the community here. I can hear how much pain you're in and how challenging this has been for you. While I personally don't know of any doctors, I hope some of our community members who are around NYC can share an recommendations they have for good RA doctors in the area.
It is very understandable that this is a big adjustment and you're finding your life put on hold as you navigate this new diagnosis. You might be interested in these two article our advocate, Kat, put together with some ideas for those newly diagnosed, https://rheumatoidarthritis.net/living/support-new-diagnosis and https://rheumatoidarthritis.net/living/care-management.
Can I ask what the medication was that you were prescribed? I'm curious if it was simply for pain relief or also to treat the RA. Also, were the doctors you saw general practitioners or rheumatologists? Rheumatologist play an important role in the treatment of RA as they specialize in rheumatic diseases (like RA). I'll also include a link to an article about finding a good rheumatologist, https://rheumatoidarthritis.net/living/find-good-rheumatologist.
I do hope that, in addition to these articles, you get some helpful input from other members here. Please don't hesitate to reach out here any time, whether you have questions, need to vent, or could use some support. This community is here for you! -- Warmly, Christine (Team Member)
