Researching GLP-1s (Ozempic)

Hi all
I heard Dr Mark Hyman interview a naturopathic doctor ( Dr Tyna Moore) about ozempic or glp -1
She relayed that she has micro dosed the peptides and has received much relief - decreased pain for her psoriatic arthritis .
Has anyone else heard of the peptides being helpful?
I’m trying to find what the actual starting dose would be ? Dr Tyna only said she started at 1/5th of the dose recommended by the pharmaceutical manufacturer .
Hope you are having a good day
Mimi

  1. Hi Mimi (). I can't speak specifically to the peptides, but I do want to share with you this article on glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor agonists in patients with inflammatory arthritis or psoriasis: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/36870080/. It looked at a number of studies and focused on the impact of weight reduction on disease activity and did find a positive effect. That said, I want to note that they conclude that these medications "role as an adjunct in patients with inflammatory arthritis and obesity or diabetes is understudied, warranting future research." Specifically, the part about them being an adjunct therapy points to the fact that they do not treat the underlying immune system issues of these autoimmune conditions. Your doctor may be able to provide additional information.
Also, I noticed that you mentioned psoriatic arthritis. Was this because it was mentioned in the interview you saw or are you diagnosed with PsA? I ask because we have a sister-site for PsA at https://psoriatic-arthritis.com/. There you can find the same level of information and support for that condition as you find here for RA. 1. Richard ,
They call it palindromic RA or RA or sometimes PsA. It depends on the day I suppose . Thanks for your reply. I’m going to give the micro dose of semaglutide a try. I also started Estrogen …as all my joint pain accelerated after a hysterectomy in 2018.

      1. please keep us posted in how you find the semaglutide to be. I am very curious about whether or not you notice a difference or not. Is this something your doctor recommended or suggested? -- Warmly, Christine (Team Member)

    2. What makes sense to me is that drugs such as Ozempic cause weight loss. With weight loss comes reduction of stress [or pain] in the joints.

      1. , there are some interesting intial findings (in addition to the weight loss its known for) coming out about Ozempic, but I tend to be kind of cynical and want to see more long range data before I believe any added hype. I have a family member taking Ozempic and it's been working very well for him, thus far.
