Sensitivity to chlorine in shower

Has anyone else had sensitivity to chlorine in their shower? I'm wondering if it's just me, since my husband seems to be just fine. I have super dry skin and a chlorine rash (have had chlorine rashes from pool water before, but never from home!) and I am curious if I'm hypersensitive or if it's an RA thing?
I have not started any RA drugs yet (will in a week or so). However, I did have steroid injections last month.
Thanks in advance!

  1. Oh and also, if this is a common thing, any suggestions what kind of water filtration anyone has had success with would be greatly appreciated!

    1. Hi, ! While my husband and kids do not have RA, some of them are quite sensitive to the chlorine in our local water supply. My husband does have Psoriasis, so this probably plays a role. We have had okay luck with shower filters and I can share the one we like, but please know I am not endorsing this product in any way. Also, the replacement filters did not seem to perform as well as the original unit, if that makes sense. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MUBU0YC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1. Please do your own research to find what might work best for you. We just didn't want to spend hundreds of dollars on a more fancy set up, so these filters do pretty well. We have incredibly hard water where I live and we don't have a water softener, so our filter needs pretty frequent replacing.

I hope other community members can offer some helpful suggestions!

      1. okay good to know! Thank you! I have bought one of them, a cheaper one. If that doesn't work. Then I will probably do a while house water filtration system. Expensive, but I have enough problems...and my husband is hvac so he can plumb it in easily.

        1. , that's super handy to be married to an hvac guy! That will definitely help cut down on the cost of a whole house filtration system.

I'd love to get your feedback on the filter you try as well. I'm always open to trying new filters.

        2. So i tried AquaBLU Heavy Duty NO BS Shower Filter – https://a.co/d/hq5jm1f
And i have to say it definitely reduces chlorine significantly. Had to use about 20 wraps of teflon tape so it wouldn't leak, and the real stuff because the teflon they send with it is garbage. But it reduced chlorine from 0.71 to 0.08.my husband works for the towns water treatment plant, so he used their analyzer. Time will tell it's durability but for $17 i wouldnt having to buy it twice a year. The replacement cartridges are $14 but reveiws say the thing is impossible to get apart to replace the filters, so buying new for a few bucks more makes sense.

        1. , nice! I am glad you found something that seems to be working. I, too, struggled to get a nice, leak free fit on our filter. And, yes, those replacements seem to be kind of not worth it. I hope the filter keeps working well for you! My only complaint was due to our incredibly hard water in my area, we blew through filters pretty darned quick.

          Happy showering!
