Side effects to medications
I have had RA for years. I seemed to have tried multiple medications. After a few months on a new med I experience severe mouth sores. I have to go off all meds until my mouth cleara up since the sores are so bad I can barely eat. Has anyone else experienced this and did you find a med that doesn't cause these side effects. I am getting desperate.Thanks
Yes, I have. In fact, it is often associated with methotrexate, but I do not know, of course, what might have caused yours. I have found two ways to take care of this. I usually call my dentist, and he has a terrific mouthwash that can get my mouth healed in 1 week or less.
The other way is to contact your rheumatologist, and they may prescribe a supplement that will often hold it at bay for some time. There are various of these supplements, some over-the-counter, others a prescription sometimes used in cancer treatment.
I use the prescription daily, but I also have the mouthwash at hand in case of breakthroughs.
