Social Security

I missed the deadline for enrolling in Social Security. I am 65, still working. I have severe rheumatoid arthritis and I won't be able to get my actemara infusion. Does anybody have any ideas to help?

  1. I think you can still sign up for Medicare. You will just be paying a penalty. See if any of this information is helpful:

    1. Hi . First. let me say that I believe is correct. Second, every state has a State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) to help navigate Medicare. The idea is that because they are funded by grants through HHS, and not tied to any companies, ect..., they can provide unbiased assistance. This SHIP site explains more, with a link to locate your local SHIP: https://www.shiphelp.org/. I hope this information helps. Wishing you the best. Richard (RheumatoidArthritis.net Team)
