"Lousy. Headache from Lefluminide, I think. "

  1. , I am sorry you're not feeling so hot and are dealing with a headache. I wasn't able to dig up any stories on our site from other community members experiencing headaches with Lefluminide. That said, just because I can't find those stories doesn't mean that there aren't folks who have experienced them.

Also, headaches are listed as one of the more common side effects of Lefluminide -- https://rheumatoidarthritis.net/treatment/arava. A number of our community members have experienced gastrointestinal issues with the medication, though.

All that said, I do hope the headache subsides and doesn't return. It can take awhile (six to eight weeks) for a medication to reach full efficacy. But, if you feel like it's not a good fit for you, please don't hesitate to talk to your doctor about it. Some of our members have stopped Lefluminide mostly due to the side effects.

    Wishing you some relief!

  2. thank you Erin. I stuck with it for three weeks but I couldn’t take the headaches anymore. My doctors is on vacation so I’m waiting for him to possibly prescribe something else. Thanks for responding.

  3. Hi . How is your RA currently doing? Does your doctor have someone else covering for him on-call in case you need something, such as prednisone to bridge the gap until something new can be prescribed? Hoping you are well. Best, Richard (Team Member)

  4. thanks for responding. He doesn’t have anyone pinch hitting for him which I find odd. I can’t take prednisone. I bounce off the walls and I am unable to sleep. I’ll just have to wait til he comes back.

  5. I had issues with high blood pressure and headaches on leflunomide. They both resolved shortly after stopping the med. Hope you’re feeling better since stopping it! Jo

  6. , you definitely gave it the old college try and it sounds like you know when to give in and say that it's just not the right treatment for you. I hope you're experiencing fewer headaches and that the next treatment you try is the one that works for you.
