"Hi I've just taken my first dose of Methotrexate last Friday and those side effects are a killer. So extremely tired, throwing up, sore throat and tummy ache. Please someone tell me it gets easier. I've tried Leflunomide, no good just gave me really high blood pressure and I'm still on Hydroxychloriquine. Is there a light at the end of the tunnel. Many thanks x"

. I wish you weren't feeling so miserable. Did your doctor prescribe folic acid? If so, that should help with nausea and fatigue. Many people find the side effects ease after a few doses, but if yours are too much to handle, you might want to call your doctor and ask for something new, There are many other medications you can try, including biologics. . First, I want to concur with the excellent information from Lori. Second, I noticed you mentioning still being on hydroxychloroquine (Plaquenil). While many people use these two drugs together to good effect, I know for some they can be a problem. My wife, Kelly Mack (a contributor here) happened to be one of them. Of course, only a doctor can do the proper diagnostics and depending on the interaction, problems can show up in the blood work. Hopefully it is just one of those things that will get better after your body adjusts. Wishing you the best and please feel free, if you like, to keep us posted on how you are doing. thankyou, I am taking folic acid, I spoke to an RA nurse and she said take every day except the Methotrexate day instead of just once a week that should help and since Tuesday I've felt human again. It the big M day on Friday so I'll let you know how I get on. Thankyou for helping me x thankyou for your reply, I'm having bloods next week so I'll probably know more then.
