"Hurting like crazy, but I am glad that surgery #83 is in the books! lol
My surgery was 2 days ago Feb 18th. We had a Winter Storm come through and they called me the night before and asked did I want to postpone it til March 6th due to the impending weather" and I said "NO, NO & NO"! lol So we are on our way Tuesday morning only to get a call asking were we "on our way to the hospital"? I said, "Yes of course, why do you ask"? She said "you were supposed to be here at 5:30 for a 7:30am surgery. I said "No your registration called me the day before and said it was set for set for a 7:30am arrival for a 9:30am surgery." I said "My husband was sitting right beside me and he even doubled check the time stating we are to be there at 7:30 for a 9:30am surgery correct"? They said "Yes". We told them we were hurrying as fast as we could. Come to find out the registration desk had moved someone else to a diff day and then had messed up everyone below that person. I pride myself on being early at ANY appointment, so it still un nerved me that I was late, even tho it was not my fault lol.
They had a very hard time finding a vein. A nurse finally got it with the ultrasound in one arm, but she said don't be surprised if they put in one or two more once you are under. They ended up putting one more in my arm and one in my ankle as well. lol Thank God I was asleep for those two lol!
My surgeon said that the surgery very much needed to be done as it had completely torn itself from all the muscles and it was completely dislocated. She said once they removed it they also filed down another piece that was not in good shape so that it would be in a better position. I go back March 6th for the stitches to be removed. Unfortunately for this surgery they can't use ones that just disappear.
There really is no PT I have to do in fact OT and PT came to my room and went over all their 100 questions about how I live and what is available at my house to get around. Both of them looked positively despondent that they couldn't do something after I left the hospital. I explained this isn't my first rodeo and my hubby has put everything in place for me to survive...ie: wheelchair ramp, walk in shower etc...
Thank God I had Robert with me as usual a few nurses tried to do things I just can't do with my body and he jumped in and said "No I am sorry but she can't do that due to the JRA and all the years of not being treated." I am blessed to have him here to help me.
On a side note, the day of my surgery my Sister's husband had a massive heart attack and it happened to be on his birthday. He went to the hospital, but he died yesterday at 1:18 am. My sister apparently has dementia by what my family is telling me and she won't ever be able to go back home. She had been in the rehab side after a knee replacement, but it looks like she will have to remain there. So a LOT is going on there and normally I would have gone down to be there with her. I can't however travel right after major surgery on my tailbone. So I can't be there right now.
Right now I am hanging in there with my pain meds and Robert sets his alarm to make sure he doesn't fall asleep and miss them lol.
Would love to hear from anyone. Thanks for listening! 😀"

  1. , oh, goodness! That is a LOT! I am so glad you persevered and got that surgery done and that Robert was there to advocate for you when needed. I am very sorry to read about your sister and brother-in-law. That's a lot of stress on top of what you are already going through.

I hope your recovery goes well and that your pain levels are well managed!

Thanks for the update and make sure you take all the time you need to heal and recover!

  2. Hi . Hey, what would surgery day be without a little hiccup somewhere in the schedule 😀. Glad to hear you came through it well. Having been on Robert's side of things a few times with Kelly, I know that there really isn't anything I can tell you or advise that you don't know or haven't experienced. So, I'll just echo Erin's comments in regard to your sister and brother-in-law and say that you know that right now you have to take care of you - kind of like the flight attendant talking about the oxygen mask. Wishing you a good and speedy recovery. Best, Richard (Team Member)

  3. How are you doing now? I hope you're feeling a bit better and getting some relief. It sounds like you've been through a lot, so I’m hoping things are calming down for you. -Latoya (Team Member)
