Is there anyone that has applied for disability due to RD??

I can hardly use my right hand and arm most of the time, being right handed this is a problem. My last job was managing a convience store, a lot of writing, typing, counting money and merchandise. Also lots of lifting, tugging, pulling etc. I know I could NOT do that job again unfortunately, I loved it. I missed a lot of work and lost my job, TN is a right to work state. I'm really afraid I'll get turned down again by s.s. disability. Anybody out there in my situation?

  1. Hi CarolynJ. Hopefully some others will offer their experiences. One of our contributors wrote a series of articles on SSDI. You mention being turned down - this article deals with appealing a denial: https://rheumatoidarthritis.net/living/how-to-appeal-a-social-security-disability-denial/. Wishing you the best. 1. I have SSDI and you WILL get denied. Almost everyone does at first, they claim it’s to weed out those who aren’t really serious. If you can, it helps to have an attorney, but even if you don’t it takes close to a year (but they give you backpay from the day you applied). If you worked and paid in for years, you could get a decent amount. If you are truly afraid you might get turned down again try one of those law firms who sepcialize in applying and take 1/3rd of your back pay initial check as payment. Keep on keepin’ on, DPM

      1. I'm on disability and have been for years. I also have fibromyalgia. It took 3 tries before I got disability. I had to get a lawyer.
