I had been on Humira for about 6 years when I had to change to the biosimilar Amjevita.

Biologic symptoms

I have had 5 UTIs in 7 months and gastroenteritis.

These are side effects of Amjevita, so I decided today not to continue with my shots.

It will take about 6 months for it to get out of my system and I have decided not to go back on any biologics.

It will be a guessing game to see the progression of my RA, but I am ready to see what that brings to my body.

Has anybody else done this?

Hello S. Dale, I wonder where you are located? I do not believe that Amjevita is available in the US until January 2023. I am just curious.

Hi . It is understandable that the issues you have had a spurring you to consider a medication pause. I'm not going to lie, I'm leery about stopping treatment as my wife, Kelly Mack (a contributor here), was diagnosed at two years old, over 40 years ago - prior to modern treatments and accumulated a lot of damage. That said, each person's case is different and for some the risks from the treatments may outweigh the risks of foregoing treatment. I know our contributor Kat (who coincidentally was also diagnosed at two, over 40 years ago - her and Kelly are good friends and fellow JRA kids) did take a treatment hiatus for a time, also due to some issues and frustrations, but did eventually return to treatment (maybe she will see this and have some thoughts). Whatever you decide, know that there are people here who understand and that this community is here for you. Please feel free, if you like, to keep us posted on how you are doing.
