I have ear arthritis: Never heard of it till I got it. Very painful. In the ear, jaw, and the neck. It just flares up whenever it wants to. Very bad pain. Went to the ENT. Nothing they can do for it. So I just have to go through it. I’m finding out that if I stay busy and exercise that helps. But I’m limited to what I can do. I do enjoy Yoga, but that is getting hard to do now. It hurts my head to move around alot. I cannot sleep on my right side anymore. Hurts when you put your head down on the pillow. I hope this helps someone that has it. Good luck.

Thank you for writing this. I was not aware of Ear Arthritis, I have RA and I think I must have this too. I can't lay on one side because my ear bones hurt along with all surrounding I have problems with my jaw locking or makes craking noise. Ear clogged, etc.
I just read Patkatt1’s story and I would tell her to tell the ENT office you need to be seen ASAP . It’s an emergency. I went profoundly deaf in my left ear almost three years ago. Doctors at mayo and my local rheumatologist don’t know if it was the biological I was on, my weakened immune system , or a virus . I never recovered any hearing and suffer from bouts of vertigo because I also lost my balance nerve on that side. You don’t realize the things you use , walking in the dark, bike riding, swimming. The tinnitus is horrible. I also have horrible arthritis in my jaw on that side. Not at all good. It has been a learning experience for sure.
Thank you!
Hi there. I sympathise with you. When I had my first and worst experience of RA, I had the same experience, just on the left side. It may have been the RA or more likely, the meds, but I lost hearing in that ear and have permanent tinnitus. The ENT at Nottingham were good and I now have a tube grommet which has made my hearing brilliant. I do not suffer with pain there either but tinnitus, which I ignore. When they did the op, they also injected it with steroid. I wonder if that would be an option for you. Have you lost any hearing?
Greetings....i have never heard of this till now. I have rheumatoid arthritis elsewhere..can you tell me what your first symptoms were with this?..I ask because for the last week I have been having ringing in one ear, feel dizzy through out the day...having a hard time hearing. I have scheduled an appointment with ent. Not sayi,g this is what I have...but since I have it elsewhere..why not!?
Thanks
