RA Grab Bag Goodies

Well, the RA Grinch has gifted me with another of its' grab bag goodies. About 2 weeks ago it dropped on me like a bolt of lightning.

Right knee pain with RA

I had been having a dull pain in the back of my right knee for several days but as usual I didn't pay it a lot of attention. Joint pain is a part of life and I usually just push it to the back burner and go on about my business as much as is possible.

I was walking along and out of the blue I felt and heard a strong "pop" in the back of my knee that hurt like the dickens and now my knee won't support my weight. Ice and Tylenol got me through until the next morning and a trip to the ER. X-rays showed nothing.

They handed me a pair of crutches and made me an appointment with an orthopedist that was 8 days out. I hobbled around and made it until the appointment (There was some improvement during that time.) His diagnosis: A Baker's cyst (caused by the RA) that ruptured when I experienced the "pop."

Slow progress

The knee is coming along but is still very weak. (Thank the Lord for braces /supports, what would we do without them?) RA is like that proverbial "box of chocolates," You never know what you are going to get. But, life is good and I am blessed. We soldier on and let tomorrow take care of itself. "Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof."
