Narcotic abuse

I'm offended and tired of people and mostly Dr.s saying we are abusing our painkillers. An addicted person would likely run out of pain killers before it's time and demanding them. Just because someone been on one painkiller, narcotic for more than a year means they're addicted? I just read this in an article. I think that shows stability and is a good sign that it must be working. I would not be able to get out of bed if it weren't for my pain medication. I take them as prescribed. If they didn't work, then why even bother. Was on a painkiller for 3yrs. Until my pain got worse from RA, I had to go to something stronger. RA is very painful and debilitating. I'd rather have a rheumatologist who has RA as aggressive as mine is to tell me if I'm in need of narcotic pain killer. I loathe the people who abuse meds to get high. We're not getting high, we're getting some relief so we can move around, get by, feel like we matter, our lives matter. Do they know how mentally damaging it is to suffer day in and day out?. No sleep because of pain? It makes me feel like I'm losing my mind. Like I've lost control of my life.
