When Your Rheumatologist Doesn't Pay Attention

So I just finished visiting my rheumatologist and explained all the aches and pains of the last several months of my hands, wrists, elbows, knees, and feet. We all know the routine. They ask what pain number are you at. I feel as if I was totally disregarded based on his statement of, "Well you're doing better now than the photos from 3 months ago"... so I'm not feeling better.

Lack of empathy

Is it me or is it normal? I explained to him the sleeplessness, anxiety, the work-related stress (in detail, by the way), and depression. I went into great detail about not being able to open doors or use doorknobs, utensils, or the fact that I have to sell my home. I can no longer take care of it. His response was, "Well you shouldn't take work stress so seriously. Good time to sell your home with the market." I didn't feel any empathy. I felt as though he was chastising me for taking the work stress seriously.

Moving forward

I'm hoping that, in hindsight, I can continue to take his suggestions and disregarded them. I explained I felt stress and distress in one's body and mind and soul cause issues. I look forward to any comments suggestions that my RA Warriors may have. OFF to work I go. Wishing everyone a good today and a better tomorrow.
