Does anyone have experience with their CRP and SED rates climbing even on medication?

I was diagnosed with RA 6 months ago and started on Methotrexate and a month later added Hydroxychloroquine. My CRP and Sed rate are continuing to climb and my doctor is talking about injections.

Any experience with this? I feel like I still am not very educated in my new diagnosis of RA and I’m not sure how I feel about changing meds. I don’t have a friend with RA to talk to and just don’t know what to do.

    1. Hi Derby. As your doctor may have mentioned, methotrexate and hydroxychloroquine are often first-line treatments for RA. If the inflammation markers such as CRP and SED rate are rising this may be an indicator that this treatment is not effective for you (I don't know how long you have been on it or any other specifics about your case - these are among the reasons we cannot give medical advice of the internet). Your doctor seems to think this may be the case, as indicated by beginning discussions on next possible treatments. There are a number of potential next steps and I want to share with you this article on medications for RA: https://rheumatoidarthritis.net/treatment/drugs-and-prescription-medications-for-ra/. This can serve as a reference point for finding information as your doctor discusses options. Wishing you the best and please feel free to keep us posted on how you doing.
