RA symptoms vs. normal pain?

I am newly diagnosed. It would be easy to attribute every uncomfortable moment to RA.

I have attempted to determine cause and effects but find this difficult. How do we differentiate between RA symptoms and life’s normal aches and pains? Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

  1. I am newly diagnosed and that’s a great question because I’m wondering the same thing! I have a ton of overlapping spine and neck issues and it can really get weird. I’m sorry you have to deal with this too 🙁

  2. Hi,

So I have many regular aches and I was diagnosed with RA 7 years ago.

My RA pain feels more of a “tighter” type of pain. I feel as if my joint is inflated or as if someone is squeezing it.

When I’m having a regular ache, then I just feel achy but I don’t feel like my point of pain is being squeezed.

It takes time to learn the difference and be patient through the process! If you ever feel a new pain, then make sure to speak to your rheumatologist so they can help to pinpoint the root of your pain.
