Does a warm climate help RA

I am contemplating moving to a warmer climate zone in the hope it will help with my RA symptoms.
Has anyone done this and has it helped. Or is anyone living in a warm climate that has any feedback for me.
Hope you can help! Any feedback would be greatly appreciated 😃

  1. I know many with RA who have moved to places like Arizona and while it is hot, they generally seem to say they thought it was an overall good move. You have to know your own illness, though, like for me I hate the heat so humid or not, I'd be miserable. If you can give it a try first that's always a good way to feel it out, if not I'm sure we have some community members here who can give their thoughts! Keep on keepin' on, DPM

    1. Hi . I can't personally speak to the impact of weather, but I can tell you that we have community members who absolutely find warm weather helps their RA, but others find the opposite, doing better in the cold. My wife, Kelly Mack (a contributor here), is definitely on the side of warm weather and wrote here about how summer helps her: https://rheumatoidarthritis.net/living/reasons-enjoy-summer. In contrast, David writes her about having increased symptoms in the heat and what he does to combat it: https://rheumatoidarthritis.net/living/stay-cool-hot-weather. This spotlight page from our editorial team has several other articles on weather: https://rheumatoidarthritis.net/spotlight/spotlight-weather-and-ra. A common theme for many is weather and pressure changes. I know this isn't exactly an answer, but hope the information is useful. You know your body best, so trust what you feel works. Best, Richard (RheumatoidArthritis.net Team)
