Finger Rash during RA Flareup

I am 8 months into a RA flareup (my first flare up since originally diagnosed in March 2021) so I am unsure if this odd symptom is actually RA or I have another issue going on. My RA doctor sent me to the dermatologist, who determined it is RA related. During this flare up, for the entire 8 months, I have had an ever-moving "knots" issue on ONLY my fingers. They are sore hard knots (but NOT RA nodules according to my RA doctor) that appear right before an inflammation on that particular finger. So where the knots appear, then that finger will have joint swelling. The knots move around day to day, lasts about 2-3 days each. No fluid/puss at all. ANY INFO/ADVISE? 1. Hi . I am not familiar with that kind of reaction, but I am replying here to bump this up in hopes that you get some input. I am glad your rheumatologist sent you to a dermatologist to rule out any other conditions. That must be quite painful. How did your rheumatologist react to the verdict from the dermatologist? I hope you get some relief from the flare and from these knots. Wishing you the best. - Lori (Team Member)

    1. THANK YOU for responding. My dermatologist sent my RA doctor a message thru a messaging system. My RA doctor had not seen the message while at my visit, when I told him, he looked it up and read. Said nothing and moved on. Very discouraged bc unfortunately, my original RA doctor (loved and very well known in my area) moved to another state a few months ago and the new RA doctor is at same practice. I have to really prompt any and all responses and info from him, for he offers very little info.

      1. Hi . I hope you consider finding a new doctor. You deserve a rheumatologist who is responsive and supportive (and more knowledgeable). - Lori (Team Member)

    2. …also, I was on prednisone (very low dose) and then methotrexate 20mg/week. Both along with Humira and neither helped the “knots”. Switched to Rinvoq a week ago.

      1. I hope Rinvoq helps. Keep us posted if you don't mind. I will be thinking of you. - Lori (Team Member)
