Gardening

I love working outside and working in the yard, flowerbeds etc but my hands and knees don't like it and I pay for it later that day. Any hacks or shortcut suggestions?

  1. I’m hoping someone comes along with a hack…I find the same issues with my hands and knees. I thought about a garden bench that’s padded and allows you to switch it to a kneeling bench.

    1. Hi . This is a great forum post I will be interested in reading the responses. Have you considered raised beds or maybe potted flowers raised on tiered holders? There are some beautiful options out there for that type of gardening. Best wishes. - Lori (Team Member)

      1. Hi, ! I think Lori and shared some great suggestions! I'm pretty fond of wheeled garden seats and there is quite a large variety of options that accommodate a variety of needs and budgets. I am providing an Amazon link, because that's the easiest, but I am not necessarily recommending Amazon or any specific cart -- https://www.amazon.com/garden-cart-seat-wheels/s?k=garden+cart+with+seat+and+wheels.

As far as hurting hands, well, that can be a bit more challenging. Garden work tends to rely on lots of "hands on" effort, so avoiding hand pain might be difficult. Have you tried ergonomic tools for the garden? I have a couple that I really like and I found this article that might be helpful -- https://www.bobvila.com/slideshow/10-ergonomic-tools-that-make-gardening-nearly-painless-45767.

Sometimes, the best I can do is plan for a hot shower and a nice, cool drink (and maybe some ibuprofen 😉 ) after a long day of working in the garden.

I hope other members chime in with some helpful suggestions! And happy gardening!
