Infusion treatment

I have been on Humira for 3 months now and it doesn't seem to be working. I talked with my doc on my last visit and she suggested switching to infusion treatments and gave me brochures on Actembra and Simponi. Other than the fact they work the same, I didn't get much out of them. Does anyone have any experience with these drugs?

  1. Scott, sorry Humira isn't helping you. Simponi is an anti-TNF biologic in the same class as Humira. They both act by impacting the same part of the biologic pathway. Simponi is self-injected like Humira, not infused. Many doctors will try a second anti-TNF as everyone responds differently. Actemra acts on a different chemical, interleukin 6 (IL-6), in the biologic pathways involved in RA. Actemra can be self-injected or infused. Everyone responds differently to medicines so personal stories are impossible to generalize to others. Decisions about treatment are best made between a patient and the prescribing doctor. I hope you find a treatment plan that works for you. You can read more at https://rheumatoidarthritis.net/treatment/biologics-treatment-options-for-ra/
