Late afternoon fatigue

I'm just curios to see if others have afternoon sudden onset of fatigue similar to flu symptoms. I have some fatigue all day but a lot of the time it seems to go into overdrive in the afternoon. I have a fairly physical job but it never seems to mater if the day has been hard or fairly easy.

  1. Hi, !

I know RA related fatigue is a common theme in this community! And, quite a few members have mentioned experiencing an afternoon slump. Frankly, people without RA tend to have an energy slump in the late afternoon, so it stands to reason that people with RA would experience the same, only exacerbated.

I wanted to share one article by a contributor, where she discusses her battel with fatigue -- https://rheumatoidarthritis.net/living/judgment-fatigue-symptoms. I am not a doctor, so please contact your physician if this symptom becomes unmanageable. But, that said, I think you have a lot in common with many of us working folks! Afternoons are hard on the best of days; moreso when you add RA to the mix.

    1. Hi . There are definitely others who experience the afternoon fatigue. My wife, Kelly Mack (a contributor here), can most certainly attest to this. Also, she wrote this article on the phantom fevers: https://rheumatoidarthritis.net/living/phantom-fevers. Fevers and flu like symptoms definitely happen, but if this is a regular thing you should definitely speak with your doctor about it. Hopefully others will chime in with their experiences.
