One to one diet - cambridge weight plan

Hi, I was diagnosed in 2019, have had a combination of sulfasalazine, naproxen, hydrocloroquine, none of which really made a huge difference and have been started on cimzia since 2022 which has made a huge difference but I still feel like everything is such an effort if that makes sense, everything feels heavy, do very little exercise, only what is absolutely necessary.

Anyway to my point now I recently started on 121 Cambridge diet which is basically a calorie controlled diet using their products as put on a huge amount of weight since not being able to exercise and the difference I've felt is huge, I've only lost 8lbs so far but I'm not thinking is it the food I've been eating that has caused so much pain and heaviness all over my body. Anyone any experience of this? I'd be really interested in any info.

Thankyou

  1. I was able to around 160 LBS from 2015 to today. With ups and downs its a constant thing. If the question is did I gain before I got RA under control? Yes I did. Was I able to lose post getting RA under control, yes I have.

I also gained after getting it under control and I have lost and gained post having it under control. I have not found an especially strong association.

    1. I am having almost constant flair ups. I’ll have one amazing day and then have several bad days. I try to be active but the pain and inflammation make it impossible to move. My gait is off and my joints don’t work well. And sleeping at night is impossible. I can’t find a comfortable position. Any suggestions?

      1. Hi Cherry, I'm so sorry to hear you're having a rough time. RA flares are no joke and I understand the frustration. Have you brought this up to your rheumatologist at all? Do they have any suggestions in terms of what to take, and also possibly switching meds if they aren't working? Flares occur for various reasons and what helps them can vary person to person. Of course, diet, stress, both play big roles. In terms of gait seeing a podiatrist for orthotics can be helpful. Also, supplements like turmeric and magnesium are known to help with pain/sleep. Here are some articles and forum topics below about flares written by people in the community. I suggest contacting your doctor if you haven't already though, as they can provide tips/tools/advice that can give you relief and/or stop the flare for your specific needs as they know you better than us. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to reach out. Hope that helps and you start feeling better very soon! -Effie, team member
