Pain

I am drained with pain in my shoulder I have today had an injection of anesthetic +steroid should have helped right away my consultant said it has not, increased my medication again. Feeling so so tired I am thinking of going to my gp to ask for an ultrasound scan on my shoulder I do feel there is something wrong

  1. I am so sorry you are dealing with pain, . I think going back to your GP makes sense in this situation. I do hope you get some relief from the pain very soon!

    1. Hi . First, let me echo Erin in saying glad to hear that you are going to continue to advocate for yourself and seek answers. My wife, Kelly Mack (a contributor here), had a reverse shoulder replacement last October. She wrote this article on exploring the problem: https://rheumatoidarthritis.net/living/range-of-motion and this one on exploring the option of surgery: https://rheumatoidarthritis.net/living/range-of-motion. Of course, your shoulder may not need anything like a replacement, but I wanted to share the articles to illustrate the usefulness of being thorough in finding the issue and seeking treatment. As a side note, her replacement has been great so far, with a complete elimination of the shoulder pain. Wishing you the best and please feel free, if you like, to keep us posted on how you are doing and to ask further questions. Best, Richard (RheumatoidArthritis.net Team)

        1. , please keep us posted on what the GP recommends, if you feel comfortable doing so!

      2. Hi there, i had to have a steroid injection on Thursday, nurse said it would work the day after but its not done anything. I had covid and had to miss out 2 methotrexate injections, so i got a bad flare up now, the rheumatologist nurse is going to book me in with physio for my shoulder because of the stiffness and pain, at times i can not lift my hand above my head.
I can't sleep because of the pain, it's been going on for a few weeks now so I'm going to see my doctor for strong pain killers.

        1. , oh, man. I am so sorry you're hurting and that the injection didn't help. I hope the doctor is willing to prescribe something to help with the pain.
