How do I know if pain is RA related or something else ?

I was diagnosed with sero negative RA nearly 12 months ago - so still learning. I had lower back pain and hip issues prior to diagnosis. Now the pain is getting worse especially after sitting or bending. Need heat packs whenever time allows and tramadol. I take 20 mg mtx weekly, lyrica, diclofanec A.P and wear a Norspan patch. I don't want to run to the GP for every little pain. I don't know if its related or not. How will I know the difference or won't I ?! Thanks in advance. Gentle Hugs to all

  1. Sorry to hear about the diagnosis greenjam. You mention a GP, are you seeing a rheumatologist? If you feel your RA is not under control it is o.k. to ask your doctor about whether your treatment regimen is doing the job. Blood work, such as CRP, should also be able to give hints about disease activity. In this article one of our contributors writes about a doctor who was not willing to let him accept that uncontrolled RA was o.k.: https://rheumatoidarthritis.net/living/the-good-doctor/. Wishing you the best and keep us posted on how you are doing. Richard (RheumatoidArthritis.net Team)

    1. Thankyou for you're reply. I do have a rheumy but i feel like she doesn't think my ossues are serious. If she only knew what my life was like 12 months ago. I've made an earlier appt to speak to her about biologics.

  2. i'm in the same boat--seronegative, going on about 12 months of symptoms--i just assume everything that hurts is RA related. i had back problems prior to diagnosis, but the RA pain in my back/hip is distinctly different than the other pain.

    1. Thanks for the reply. It is helpful knowing other people understand. I would like to make contact with more people wirh seronegative RA. Best of luck
