Rheumatoid Arthritis and Prosthesis

Dear friends, I’m about to undergo ulnar prosthesis. Those who had previous prosthesis, I want you to explain for me the rehabilitation period, the prognosis, and the medications that was used after operation, I will be glad if you can explain for me the whole story and what you have experienced during this period.

  1. Thanks for reaching out. I hope others here share their personal experiences with you. In addition to feedback you receive here and in addition to speaking with your doctor who should be able to answer all of those questions as well, this article may be helpful: https://rheumatoidarthritis.net/surgery/hand-and-wrist-surgery. Wishing you a successful surgery and quick recovery. Best, Kelly, Rheumatoidarthritis.net Team member

    1. Hi . It is good that you want to prepare the best you can for the replacement surgery and recovery. I can't personally speak on the issue, but in this article our contributor Carla discusses her multiple replacements: https://rheumatoidarthritis.net/living/joint-replacement. I can also tell you that my wife, Kelly Mack (a contributor here), had both knees and hips replaced when she was a teenager, over twenty-five years ago (before the technology was where it is today) and wrote here about her experience and the difference it made for her: https://rheumatoidarthritis.net/living/call-me-the-bionic-woman. Of course, it is important to remember that everyone's experience will be different and a lot of factors will play into the recovery. Your doctor may have some recommendations for what you can do beforehand to best prepare. Wishing you the best and please feel free to keep us posted on how you are doing.
