Appreciation Post

My son, David, is my caregiver. He is the very best, loving, kind, giving, and hard working. He does everything he can to help me and make me feel better. I appreciate him to much. He is a godsend. Who in your life has helped you deal with RA?

  1. - It sounds like you and your son have a very close relationship. That's wonderful. For me, at the beginning the person who helped me the most was my own mother. Now it is my husband. He is a great support. Thank you for starting this appreciation post. -Lisa

    1. Hi . I happen to be the husband of someone with RA (my wife, Kelly Mack, is a contributor here), so it is always great to hear about supportive family. I want to note that it sounds like your son learned some valuable lessons from you and share with you this article from our patient leader Leanne on lessons children learn from having a parent with RA: https://rheumatoidarthritis.net/living/lessons-teach-children. Wishing you and your son the best. Richard (Team Member)

      1. What a beautiful tribute to your son, David! It’s clear how much love and care he pours into supporting you. Being a caregiver is such a selfless and challenging role, and it sounds like he goes above and beyond to ensure you’re comfortable and cared for. He truly does sound like a godsend—how lucky you are to have each other! 💙 Warmly, Latoya (Team Member)

        1. While I truly appreciate my close friends and family, my answer is by far my Hubby, my Partner, my better half! (Yes only 1 person there!)
After 17 years he knows what I need, often before I do. He absolutely goes above and beyond.
He does know when I need to NOT rely on him, when I need to get up and move and when I should not.
While my house cleaning days are pretty much over, he tries hard to get to most of it. I had to learn that some dust, while it doesn’t make me happy, is ok on a few furniture pieces!
No one knows us better than someone who lives with us. But only the ones who care enough to act on what they see are special.
          ☺️♥️

          1. Hi . If you go to the home page (you can click the "RA" symbol at top left to go there) and then click the "Read recent articles" button below the several articles posted on the page it will take you to a list of all the newest articles in chronological order. Maybe see if this is an easier way to get to a variety of contributors. If this doesn't help please feel free to let me know and I'll see what else I can do. Best, Richard (Team Member)

          2. Thanjs I will check it out. Happy Thanksgiving to you, Kelly & extended family, as well as everyone in the RA community!
