Tens machine

Has anyone found using a Tens machine helps?

  1. Hi, !

I know that a few of our community members have tried TENS units and one of our health leaders wrote about her experience with TENS here -- https://rheumatoidarthritis.net/living/tens-unit. There are a few member comments following her piece, where other folks talk a bit about using a TENS unit. And one of our members shared her experience with TENS here -- https://rheumatoidarthritis.net/stories/pain-be-gone. I hope these stories are informative for you and that others that have tried TENS units for their pain will see your question and chime in here.

Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any other questions. We're happy to help in any way we can!

    Best, Erin, Team Member.

  2. Hi . I took a look at the comments under the excellent information from Erin and saw that my wife, Kelly Mack (a contributor here), hadn't said anything, so thought I'd share her experience (she is right here next to me giving input). About 13 years ago Kelly had to have a knee replacement redone (a revision) due to an infection. She had a spacer in for a couple of months (no knee) to fight the infection and then the new knee. The recovery was months, with about 6 weeks of in-patient therapy. The tens unit was really important for the recovery, especially getting the nerves and muscles to start firing again. She used it for months. For at home it is important to make sure to have leads that stick well - don't be afraid to change them.

We broke it back out a couple a years ago when she had a shoulder replacement and it was again helpful. She hasn't really used it outside of major recoveries, but that is more on us - there are probably been times it could be helpful. Let us know if you have other specific questions and Kelly will see if she can help. Wishing you the best. Richard (Team Member)
