Using the oven with RA

I find I can no longer put anything in the oven, and taking it out is even worse! Is there another cooking method that’s not a microwave?

  1. Hi, ! Cooking can definitely be a big challenge when you have RA! Fortunately, there are a number of relatively inexpensive gadgets that can really help make cooking easier. I personally love my air fryer and I know other folks really like Instant Pots (which are basically modernized pressure cookers). Air fryers can run the gamut in price and size. I personally have an inexpensive air fryer with medium capacity, which works great for my family. Also, you might check out this article on helpful kitchen gadgets -- https://rheumatoidarthritis.net/living/kitchen-tools. I hope some of these suggestions might be something you can use!

    1. Hi, I love my convection toaster type oven. It is on counter and since just two of us, I can cook both meat and potatoes. I use microwave for frozen vegetables. It is more energy efficient , too. Wishing you the best. love, elirose

      1. I also have issues with the same thing since the oven is so close to the ground. What I did is buy pans with long handles (something like the image I attached, not endorsing any specific product, though). You can even hook something onto the handles to pick them up like upside coat hangers, etc, or they do make accessible handles with hooks you can buy. You can also get handles that can attach to cookie sheets to help make things easier. Hopefully this helps and lets you use the oven again!!
