Have you had these Rituxan side effects?

Have you ever experienced a heaviness feeling in your extremities like legs and arms after infusion? I started Rituxan in 2016 and only twice have I experienced this... last year and after today's. I mentioned it to my old rheumy, she didn't have an answer. I see my new rheumy in 4 weeks for follow up and will ask her.

  1. Hi JL:

After my Rituxan infusion, I didn't feel heaviness in my extremties but I did feel pain. First in my right leg and then in my left leg. Medications sometimes affects us each differently or sometimes the same. I also had bad cramps in my feet. I then stopped using it.

    1. Truximab works very well for me, however, about 2 weeks after an infusion I get a UTI. The bacteria causing the infections is e. faecalis, which for some reason is hard for me to get rid of, requiring 2 rounds of antibiotics (from the list of drug sensitive antibiotics, from the culture and sensitivities). So, I’ll just have to talk with my rheumy and see what he says. I don’t want to stop taking it!

      1. please keep us posted with how your talk with your rheumy goes! Getting a UTI every 2 weeks after infusion sounds frustrating, but if you feel that the Truximab is working well for you and don't mind the pain and inconvenience of the UTI too much, hopefully your rheumatologist will agree. Sending you gentle hugs. -- Warmly, Christine (Team Member)

    2. I’ve had 2 really rough courses of bronchitis, one with sinusitis over the last two months. We’ve treated with 2 antibiotics and a steroid inhaler. I don’t know if the lingering cough is related to my Ruxience infusions or not. My PCP is seeing coughs linger in people with “normal” immune systems. My RA is responding to the Ruxience - this after 7 biologics. I really hope I don’t have to choose between Ruxience and respiratory infections! Jo
