Bone Pain?!

Hello everyone,

I desperately need help. I've had rheumatoid arthritis since i was 15 years old (im 23) and I'm in the middle of switching medications. I've been having random pain in my bones. I usually have jiont pain, of course. But i have been failing a dull achy pain in my bones, specifically my forearm area. Does anyone know what this could be from??
I will be calling my doctor but i just need to talk to someone

  1. Hi ohnopain. I am so sorry you are hurting. I think it's wise that you plan on contacting your doctor. The pain you are describing may or may not be related to your RA, but the only way to find out is to speak with your physician. I will say that quite a few of our members have mentioned bone pain and fractures. You can read more about those issues here -- https://rheumatoidarthritis.net/symptoms/fractures-and-bone-loss/. Here is some information pulled from our site relating to spinal pain and RA, but the facts could probably be applied to any part of the human skeleton -- Chronic inflammation may lead to loss of cartilage and bone and loosening of ligaments (the fibrous cords that connect bone to bone and cartilage to cartilage). Formation of pannus (a build-up of tissue composed of immune cells) in affected joints may lead to a narrowing of the joint area and result in compression of the spinal cord, causing a range of nerve symptoms, including pain and sensory loss in the hands and feet.1-3. I do hope it offers you some comfort to know you are not alone in this. Please do call your physician as soon as possible so you can get to the bottom of what's going on. Thank you for reaching out and I wish you a restful, pain-free night! Best, Erin, RheumatoidArthritis.net Team Member.
