Amgevita

Hair thinning / breakage

  1. Hi . Hair loss is a rare side effect with Humira or its biosimilars (which Amgevita is one of). That said, this does not mean your hair issues are not due to this drug. Have you had a chance to discuss this issue with your doctor? I know folic acid helps with methotrexate induced hair loss, but I was unable to find any particular treatment in relation to the anti-TNF drugs. Hopefully others will chime in with their experiences. Best, Richard (RheumatoidArthritis.net Team)

    1. Thankyou Richard, had blood tests and on iron now but I'm not convinced that's is the issue as there was only slight dip in iron levels. On supplements for 3 months so I will stick it out and see but I'm concerned about the continuing hair thinning. I've had really low iron levels in the past due to a seperate illness to the point I needed a blood transfusion but even with that situation my hair was not affected. It's not nice every time I take the injection I'm asking myself I'm I risking more hair loss but if I don't take the Amgevita I'm risking a bad flare up. It's not easy knowing what to do!
